Lorena Fox Lane, 98, of West Wolf Valley Road, Clinton, died Friday at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after an extended illness. She had lived at the Wolf Valley home since 1938.
Born Oct. 29, 1894, in Knox County, she was the daughter of the late Elbridge and Elizabeth Fox. She married Arthur Lane on Sept. 11, 1910, and moved to Cocke County. They moved to Anderson County in 1929. Mr. Lane died in 1978.
Mrs. Lane enjoyed quilting and canning, but spent much of her time rearing 15 children, three of whom died in childhood.
Mrs. Lane was a member of Grace Baptist church in Clinton.
He descendants include 145 grandchildren.
Two daughters, Charlcie Bardill and Lela Maude Lane; and five sons, James, Walter, Elmer, Charlie and Willie Lane, preceded her in death.
Survivors include six daughters and three sons-in-law, Dorothy and Herbert Bryant of Clinton; Lucille and Kenneth Bearden of Knoxville; Dixie and Joe Godfrey of Hacienta Heights, CA; Roxie Sims of Knoxville; Daisy Keith of Santa Fe Springs, CA; and Alice Webber of Andersonville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Norma Lane and Jay and Judy Lane, all of Clinton; three daughters-in-law, Alice Lane, Liddie Lane and Peggy Lane, all of Clinton; 41 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 7 at the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Hammock, the Rev. Charles Cook, the Rev. Clyde Jenkins and the Rev. Clyde Childs officiating. Burial was at Zion Cemetery.
