Lyle Gentry Lankford, 86, of Clinton, died Tuesday in Fort Sanders Park West Medical Center.

A former Solway community resident, Mr. Lankford was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Before retiring, he worked 29 years as a supervisor with Y-12 in the fabrication division.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Lankford Aug. 3, 1993; son, Lyle Duane Lankford in 1957; and by his parents, L.R. and Agnes Shelton Lankford.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Patricia Lankford of Clinton and Wayne and Paulette Lankford of Nashville; grandchildren, Gerald Lankford, Jr., Lyle Lee Lankford, Sharon Ann Nabors, Laura Short, Keith Lankford and Duana Lankford; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 8 pm Friday in Holley-Gamble Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Webster officiating. Burial will be 10 am Saturday in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends 6:30-8 pm Friday in Holley-Gamble Funeral Home.
