Born Nov. 25, 1907 in Anderson County, Mrs. Lay was a member of the Clinton Second Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lay; and son, Carl Lay, Jr.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and George Gilbert of Knoxville; a son and daughter-in-law, Fletcher and Yvonne Lay of Clinton; three grandchildren, Gregory, Dale and Debbie; five great-grandchildren, Stevie, Amy, Abbie, Austin and Phillip; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Saturday at Holley-Gamble Chapel with Rev. George Williams and Rev. Gary Swaggerty officiating. Burial was Sunday in Zion Cemetery, Claxton.
