William “Bill” Leab, age 64, of Devonia in the New River community where he resided, passed away Monday, May 13, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Bill was born July 4, 1937, to the late Guy and Sabra Phillips Leab.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by: grandparents, John and Sally Leab and William and Cressie Phillips; brother, Vaughn Leab; brother-in-law, William Hungate.
Survivors: brothers, Ike Leab and wife Imogene, Hurstle Leab and wife Gladys, Roy Lee Leab, all of Lake City; sisters, Dolly Hungate of Clinton, Ruby Kennedy and husband Steve of New River, Rose Dean Byrd and husband Norman of Wartburg; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home. Funeral service is at 1 pm Thursday, May 16, 2002, at the Grave Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Daugherty, the Rev. Murl Phillips, the Rev. Wayne Phillips and Brother Justin Phillips officiating. Bill will lie in state one hour prior to his funeral service.
Interment will follow the service Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Grave Hill Cemetery.
