James T. “Buster” Maples of Heiskell died Sunday morning, five days short of his 85th birthday.

He was a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Maples.

Survivors include daughters, Mildred Phillips of Powell and Jessie Maples of Halls; granddaughter and husband, Amy Phillips West and Chris West; sister, Alice Meadows of Dallas, TX; brothers, Jack Maples of Jefferson City and Leroy Maples of Halls.

Graveside service was Tuesday in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mynatt’s was in charge of arrangements.
