Myrtle Gertrude Maples, 87, of Clinton, died Monday in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church and former employee of Standard Knitting Mill and LaFollette Shirt Factory.
Mrs. Maples was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur McGilbert Maples; parents, Amos and Margaret Weaver Hale; daughter, Judy Maples; grandchildren, Leslie Byrd, Tony Maples and Sherry Jo Maples; nine brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ostreeta and Arva Lee Luallen of Clinton; daughters, Jewell Taylor of Georgia and Juanita Thiem of Chattanooga; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Cora Maples of Fulton, MS; Robert and Sue Maples of Indiana and Mack and Linda Maples of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Dale and Wally Carmichael, Janice Bujalki, Richard Luallen, Ronnie and Stan Stevens of Knoxville, Brad and Darla Bland, Angie Bland Thiem of Chattanooga, Diane and Carlos Ibarro of Florida, Jeff and Tara Maples of Indiana, and Michael and David Maples of Virginia; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Tuesday in the Chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim McPherson officiating. Graveside service was Wednesday in Norris Memorial Gardens.
