A Caryville native, Alma Mardis, 85, of Pop Hollow Road, Clinton, died Saturday at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lurie Rose Hogue.
Mrs. Mardis had lived in Clinton since 1963. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Girls. A homemaker, she enjoyed traveling.
Her husband, Clarence Edward Mardis, died in 1966.
Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Christine Woods, and Mary Elizabeth and Pete Rose, all of Pontiac, MI; Linda Hart of Satellite Beach, FL; and Dorthea Sue Martin of Ocala, FL; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Al and Frances Mardis of Greensboro, NC; James (Ross) Mardis and Ronald and Sue Mardis, all of Clinton; Lanny and Teresa Mardis of Port Richey, FL; and Kenneth and Lori Mardis of Gatlinburg; two sisters, Thelma (Auntie) Rainwater and Edna Emert, both of Clinton; a sister-in-law, Reba Hogue of Clinton; 35 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday at Martin Clinton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milton Bolton officiating. Burial was at Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
