Dorothy Margrave




Dorothy (Dot) Fox Margrave, 76, Woodmont Circle, Clinton, died Thursday morning in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

She was born Sept. 27, 1917 in Hazard County, KY., to the late Thomas W and Elizabeth F Strong Fox.

Mrs. Margrave was graduated from Robertsville High School in what is now Oak Ridge.

She played independent basketball for the Clinton Ravens and was named the most valuable player for three years. She was an avid sports fan.

Active in the Clinton Bowling League, she also was a member of the Tennessee Women’s Bowling Association.

Mrs. Margrave retired from the business office of MMC after working approximately 33 years.

Her husband, George Margrave, died in April 1976, and a stepson, George E. Margrave, died in April 1992.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Jack Williams of Clinton; Peggy and Hugh Perry of Austin, TX; stepdaughter, Kay Margrave Doty of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kelly and Amy Williams of Clinton; Charlton and Roger Perry of Austin, TX; step-grandchildren, Laura Peters of Knoxville; Cal Doty of Morristown; Steve Doty of Knoxville and Mark Doty of Kingsport; three step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Manley of Selma, AL; Elizabeth Bolton of Manassas VA; Hazel Brown of Oliver Springs; Bessie Smith and Bertha Jenkins, both of Oak Ridge; brothers, Bill and Fred Fox, both of Clinton; Henry Fox of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.

Services were Friday in Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Dean officiating. Burial was Saturday noon in Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.
