Clarence Martin, 87, of Lake City, died Aug. 11 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Martin had been a resident of Anderson County Health Care Center.
He was born Feb. 10, 1906 in Coal Creek to the late Thomas C. and Bertha Ella Parks Martin. His stepfather, Riley M. Martin, brothers, Alvin and Kelly Martin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Marcella Lucas Martin, Floyd and Ethel Pratt Martin; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and James O. Bailey, and brothers-in-law, Russell Sharp and Claude Smith, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Martin retired from General Motors in Ohio where he was a machinist, and from Magnet Knitting Mills in Lake City.
He was a member of the Lake City Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include sisters, Elizabeth Sharp and Lucille Smith of Lake City; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Martin of Lake City; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Martin of Lake City; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hubbs and the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. The eulogy was given by John W. (Bill) Prewitt. Burial was Saturday at Leach Cemetery in Lake City.
