Eric McCoy, age 96, of Briceville, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in LaFollette.
He was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Briceville. He was a faithful member and loved going to church very much. He loved gardening. Eric was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sorely missed. He was a retired coal miner. He had worked at Beech Grove Mines and Cambry Coal Company.
He was preceded in death by: wife, Vilda McCoy; parents, Silas and Rosa Massengale McCoy; sisters, Edra Taylor, Mildred Jones and Hazel McCoy; brother, V.C. McCoy.
Survivors: son, Robert “Bobby” McCoy of Briceville; grandchildren, Lorie Wilson and husband Mark of Jacksboro, Shaun McCoy of Briceville; sister, Sybil Braden of Oliver Springs; special friends, Joyce McCoy of Briceville, Mary Lee and Bobby Hooks of Lake City; several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends 6-8 pm Thursday, April 4, 2002 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the funeral service following at 8 pm in the chapel with the Rev. Tim Russell officiating.
Interment was 2 pm Friday, April 5, 2002, at Circle Cemetery in Briceville.
