Joe E. McDonald




Joe E. McDonald, 57, died Saturday at his home at 807 Charles Seivers Boulevard, Clinton.

Mr. McDonald was retired after 23 years as a postal clerk with the Clinton Post Office. Earlier, he had managed Scottish Inn motels in the Southeastern states and had served in the Army in Germany.

He was a member of Blowing Springs Baptist Church.

His favorite hobby was fishing but he also enjoyed boating, pheasant hunting, traveling, woodcraft and gardening.

Mr. McDonald was born July 5, 1935, in Anderson County to the late Russell and Leo (Toots) McDonald. He attended Anderson County Schools.

He married Margaret Nash McDonald on Aug 31, 1992, who survives him.

Survivors also include a brother, Allen McDonald of Clinton; two step-sons, John Myers and Brian Myers, both of Phoenix, AZ; eight cousins; five nieces, Jill Moore of Knoxville, Vickie Summers, Terry Hayes, Ashley and Courtney of Clinton; nephews, Lucas Hurd of Clinton, Gary Chapman, and Matthew Chapman, all of Albany, GA; aunts and uncles, Mrs. Thelma Rhea, Rex, Roger and Doug Rhea, all of Clinton, Linda and Sue Rhea, Mr. and Mrs. Horace McDonald and Naomi and Joan of Clinton; best friends, Ray Russell, June Bishop, David and Gordon Brown, Suzanne Brown, Mark Caldwell, Gary Cox, James (Toad) Driskill, Mary Evans, Harold Fagan, Bud and Faye Hammons, Kathy Hatmaker, Bud and Lois Harner, Betty Lynn Hendrickson, Dickie and Sue Johnson, Al and Ruth Ann Lathan, Ralph Pointer, Jack Rains, Jim and Barbara Price, Roger and Lyndell Ridenour, Roland Rivet, Jean Russell, Dewey Smith, Denver Stair, Gilbert (Foozie) Stair and Ed White and a very special young friend, Carrie Cundiff.

The body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
