John Bennett McGhee, 70, of Clinton, died Saturday in his home.
Born July 6, 1925, in Beech Grove, he was the son of Marion and Mary Bennett McGhee. Mr. McGhee was a World War I I U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Robertsville Baptist Church, Oak Ridge and a member of both Operators and Machinist Local and the Elks Club. He worked as superintendent with Johnson Control World Services Inc. and had worked at the water plant for 43 years. He was an avid bowler and UT and Oak Ridge sports fan. Mr. McGhee was inducted into the Oak Ridge and Tennessee bowling Hall of Fame in 1992.
Survivors include wife, Delilah Smith McGhee of Clinton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Sherry McGhee of Woodstock, GA, and Gregory McGhee of Chicago; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Wes Hutson of Clinton; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Laurine McGhee of Albany, GA, and former wife, Frances M. McGhee of Oak Ridge.
Funeral service was Monday in Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Mack Smith officiating. Graveside service was Tuesday in Leach Cemetery, Lake City.
