Marie Emory McGhee




Funeral services for Marie Emory McGhee were held Tuesday, Jan. 12, in the chapel of Martin Clinton Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Wright officiating. Burial was Wednesday afternoon at Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.

Mrs. McGhee, 86, of Knoxville Rt. 5, died Sunday at the Anderson County Health Care Center. She had been in declining health for several months.

A native of Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late John and Ella King Emory. She was born May 7, 1906. A homemaker, Mrs. McGhee enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and doing lawn work before her health declined.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Her husband, Robert McGhee, died in 1963. An infant daughter, two brothers, four sisters and a stepchild also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Frankie and J.R. Grasham of Clinton, and Mary Magdalene Hatfield of Dayton, OH; five stepchildren; two granddaughters, Betty Sweeten and her husband, John of Clinton and Carol Sweeten of Oliver Springs; two great-granddaughters, Karen Lynch of Clinton and Gina Sweeten of Oak Ridge; and by four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
