Funeral services were held Tuesday night at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home for the Rev. William (Bill) McGill, 68, of Clinton Highway, Claxton community, who died Sunday at his home. The Rev. Clarence Dockins and the Rev. Corbin Monger officiated. Graveside services were held Wednesday morning at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors presented by the Volunteer State Honor Guard.
Mr. McGill was retired from PTC in Clinton. He was a member of Community Baptist Church in Powell.
A veteran of the Navy, he served in World War II.
His brothers, John and Marion McGill, preceded him in death. He was the son of the late John and Rose McGill.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sims McGill of Powell; daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Rose) Sims of Clinton; Mrs. Glenn (Peggy) Sampsel of Oliver Springs; Mrs. Jed (Faye) Wesley of Science Hill, KY; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Penny McGill of Claxton; Gary and Beverly Humphrey of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a cousin, Jim McGill.
