Harold Eugene (Gene) McKinney Jr., 38, of the Marlow community, Clinton Rt. 5, died March 27 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge of a heart attack.
A member of Deep Springs Baptist Church, he was the son of Harold Sr. and Shirley McKinney of Heiskell. Mr. McKinney was born Dec. 21, 1954, in Chicago, but he had been a long time resident of Anderson County.
He and his wife, Susan Gail Childs McKinney, were married June 25, 1977, at Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Marlow.
Mr. McKinney was a basketball fan and also enjoyed fishing and doing yard work.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Dawn (Missy) McKinney, a student at Clinton Middle School; and a son, Joshua (Josh) McKinney, a student at Grand Oaks Elementary School, both of the home; a sister and her husband, Diane and Jimmy Miller of Heiskell; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur McKinney Sr. of Powell, and Lillie Reed of Heiskell; his mother and father-in-law, Geraldine and Fred Childs of Marlow; a sister-in-law, Betty Ambrose of Clinton; and a brother-in-law, Joe Childs of Marlow, Willie and Delores Barnett and their family of Marlow, and Mary Thomas of Oak Ridge were considered special friends.
The funeral was held Tuesday at Deep Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. John Brantley and the Rev. Jerry Copeland officiating. Burial was at Childs Cemetery in Marlow. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
