Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Antioch Baptist Church for Charles H. (Scotty) Nance, 64, of Lake City. Burial was at Leach Cemetery.
Mr. Nance, a former two term council member with the Lake City Municipal Government, died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Nance was a former 25 year employee of Powell Clinch Natural Gas Co. in Lake City. Before that he worked in the coal mining industry.
He was a Lake City native. He lived in Briceville as a child and resided there until leaving at the age of 19 to follow mining work. He had also lived in Kentucky and Ohio before returning to this area.
He attended Antioch Baptist Church, near Clinton.
Mr. Nance enjoyed football, baseball, hunting and fishing.
His parents were the late Thomas and Ellen Nance.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine (Jerry) Williams Nance; daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and Jim Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Roger and Sharon Nance, David Michael and Linda Nance, all of Lake City; Pete and Melanie Nance of LaFollette; and the Rev. Joe and Judy Nance of Belle, WV; grandchildren, Scott and Jason Johnson, Amy and Kristi Nance, Adam Joe Williams, Megan and Renee Stocks; sisters, Zenith Bailey, Ruby Harness both of Lake City; Ruble Stewart of Clinton; Bertie Ellen Roberts and Bernice Patterson; brothers, Thomas Nance Jr., Clayton Daniels, all of Lake City; several nieces and nephews.
Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
