Alice Leona Neal, age 89, who lived in the Marlow community of Anderson County, passed away Friday, April 14, 2000, and NHC of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Neal was born May 1, 1919, in Chattanooga. She moved to the Anderson County area in 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of Moran Baptist Church. Mrs. Neal was an avid quilter and flower gardener.
Preceded in death by: Parents, John J. White and Lela Pope White; husband, Carl M. Neal; son, Harold Glenn Neal; grandchildren, Valorie Hensley and Tommy Neal; step-grandchild, Bryan Neal; brother, Harvey White; ½ brother, James White.
Survivors: Daughters, Bettye C. Patterson and husband Charles of Oak Ridge, Laura Evelyn Hensley and husband Wilburn of Oliver Springs, Alice Novella Eakes and husband james of LaFayette, GA; sons, Ernest M. Neal and wife Ellen of Oliver Springs, Marvin L. Neal and wife Paula of Toledo, OH; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great children; ½ sisters, Thelma Ledford of Waco, TX, Margaret Dendy of Little Rock, AR;1/2 brothers, Johnny White of Chattanooga, Joe White of Chattanooga and Paul White of Tazewell.
Visitation was 6-8 pm Saturday, April 15, 2000 at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral service was 8 pm Saturday, April 15, 2000 in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating.
Burial and graveside service will be held 3 pm Sunday, April 16, 2000 at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
