Edwin Morris Nelson, 81, of Orchard Knob road, Clinton, died suddenly on Jan. 17 at his home.
Mr. Nelson was born Sept. 16, 1912, in Gann Valley, SD. To Johan Marius Nelson and Edith Hartwig Nelson.
Mrs. Nelson received degrees from the University of South Dakota and the University of Minnesota. He was retired from Becthel Engineering where he worked as an engineer. He also was retired from the Army where he held the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He married Muriel B. Carlson on April 16, 1940.
Mr. Nelson enjoyed travel and golf as hobbies.
Survivors include his wife, Muriel C. Nelson; sons and daughter-in-law, John Nelson of Oran, Algeria; James and Peggy Nelson of Colleyville, TX; daughter, Nancy Nelson of Pittsburg, CA; a brother, Alvin Nelson of Huron, SD; sister, Ellen Hall of Chamberlain, SD; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at noon at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville. Full military honors will be presented by the Volunteer State Honor Guard.
Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Anderson County Holiday Bureau in Oak Ridge.
