Ruby Mamie Nelson, 80, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Nelson was a long-time Oak Ridger and had lived in the same house for the last 50 years.
She was born Feb 17, 1920, in Meigs County, to parents J. T. Hughes and Maggie Ennix Hughes.
Mrs. Nelson retired from Oak Ridge Health Care Center where she worked in the housekeeping department. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Oak Ridge.
Preceded in death by: Husband, James Carl “Pug” Nelson, April 20, 1966; daughter, Barbara Fletcher, July 2, 1981.
Survivors: Sons, Richard Nelson and wife Linda of Clinton, Frank Nelson and wife Mickie of Safety Harbor, FL; sister, Reba Johnson and husband Floyd of Kingston; grandchildren, Karen Campanara of Huachua, AZ, Melissa Hurlbur and Cathy Nelson of Safety harbor, FL, Mary Beth Constatino of Knoxville, James Shannon Fletcher of NC, Kevin Nelson of Chattanooga, Richard Michael Nelson, a student at ETSU in Johnson City; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Saturday, May 6, 2000 at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
Funeral services will be 8 pm Saturday, May 6, 2000, with the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating.
Graveside services are 2 pm Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
