Massie Ellis

Massie Ellis, 35, of Savannah, Ga., formerly of Clinton, died suddenly Tuesday in Savannah of a massive heartattack.
He was born in Oak Ridge, the son of Berline Moore Ellis of Clinton and the late James A Ellis.
Mr. Ellis, a 1974 graduate of Clinton Senior High School, was a member of the Dragon football team and was chosen to appear in the 1973-74 Prep All-American Football Yearbook. A backfield player, he was credited with close to 1,000 yards gained during his senior year. The athletic department nominated him for the award.
He attended Tennessee State in Nashville for two yers before joining the US Marine Corps in 1978 for four years.
At the time of his death, he was working as a sales representative with a Savannah automobile dealership.
He was of the Methodist faith.
A brother, P L Ellis, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mohter, Berline M Ellis of Clinton; sons, Massie (Mack) Ellis, jr., Kodi Ellis, Kyle Ellis and Jamelle Ellis, all of Savannah, a daughter, Shante Thomas of Oak Ridge; brothers, James Allen Ellis of Atlanta; Charles E Ellis, Grady L Ellis, and Bryant L Ellis, all of Clinton; Cleo E Ellis of Claxton; Clarence E Ellis of Junction City, Kansas; sisters, Maxine Davidson and Marcia Barton, both of Clinton; and Jan Seats of Nashville; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Friday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday at Haven's Chapel United Methodist Church in Claxton with the Rev Duff officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Garden.

Paul L Ellis

Paul L Ellis, Sr., 46, of Carriage Square, CLinton, died suddenly Aug 5, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was a native of the Claxton community and was reared in Anderson County.
He was the son of Mrs. Berline Ellis of Clinton and the late James Alfred Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was employed by Oak RIdge National Laboratories and was a faithful deacon and member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charmaine Ellis; two daughters, Fremaine Ellis and Sonda Ellis of Clinton; a son, Paul Ellis II of Clinton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs Willie James (Maxine) Davidson and Mrs. Lincoln (Marcia) Barton of Clinton; Mrs Charles (Jan) Seats of Nashville; seven brothers and sisters-in-law; James and Karen Ellis of Smyrna, Ga.; Clarance and Erin Ellis of Junction City, Kansas; Cleo and Faye Ellis of Powell; Bryant and Diane Ellis and Charles and Versella Ellis of Clinton; Grady Ellis of Oak Ridge; Massey Ellis of Savanah, Ga.; sevral nieces and nephews; aunts, Hazel Moore and Thressa Atwater of Powell; Dorothy Bobo of Clinton; uncle, Paul Elsworth Ellis of Clinton; devoted friends, John and Liz Footman and Doug and Pat McCrary of Knoxville; Ruben and Caroly Jordan of Mobile, Ala.; mother and stepfather-in-law, Mr and Mrs Gary Henderson of Oak Ridge; grandmother-in-law, Mrs Grace Willis of Clinton; four brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; aunt and uncle-in-law, the Rev and Mrs. O W Willis Sr., of Clinton; godchild, Tyra Dixon of Powell, and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will e held at 2 pm Thursday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev O W Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home between 7 and 9 pm Wednesday.
