Norris Roosevelt Parrott




Norris Roosevelt Parrott, 59, of Lake City, Oak Grove community, died March 15 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after working at the plant for 36 years.

Mr. Parrott taught school for two years in Campbell County prior to working for Martin Marietta. He was active in Campbell County politics, having served as county commissioner for 20 years. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of Coal Creek Lodge 492 F&AM, member and past Worthy Patron of Coal Creek Chapter 226 OES and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Mr. Parrott was a veteran of the Army and served in Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late George and Olivia Parrott. Mr. Parrott was born May 23, 1933 in Claiborne County.

Survivors include sons, Jeffrey George Parrott and Paul Bryant Parrott, both of Lake City; sisters, Jewel Hensley of Monroe, Mich., Marcel Lay of Dayton, Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law, Johnny and Glenda Parrott and Roy Gene and Mildred Parrott, all of Caryville; 14 nieces and nephews; special friend, Martha Dossett of Fincastle.

Funeral and Masonic services will be at 8 pm Thursday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with he Rev. J.T. Leach officiating. Burial will be at 11 am Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 pm Thursday.
