Reta Elizabeth Partridge, 80, of Independence, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 8, in West Care Village, Independence.
Mrs. Partridge was born in Redfield, Iowa, on Dec. 30, 1913, the youngest child of Frank and Inez Fellows. She was raised and attended school in Ames, Iowa. She married Jay I. Partridge on May 7, 1938, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Fairfield, Iowa before moving to Independence in 1944.
Mrs. Partridge was a wife and mother, did volunteer work with Red Cross and The Grey Ladies. She spent over 900 hours making bandages during World War I I.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Partridge spent most of her time being a constant companion and helpmate with her husband, Jay, in his work of Farm Bureau, Extension and 4-H, and the Farm Business Association. Through this work, they served not only families in Buchanan County, Iowa, but in all 50 states.
Survivors include her husband, Jay, of Independence; one son, Ken of Winthrop, Iowa; daughter, Joy White of Clinton; brothers, Glen Fellow of Ames, Iowa, and Don Fellows of Marion, Iowa; three grandchildren, three step-grand-children and one step-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service was Friday, June 10, in First Presbyterian Church, Independence,. Burial and graveside service was Saturday, June 11, in Corydon Cemetery, Corydon, Iowa.
Fawcett Funeral Home, Winthrop, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
