Dr. Teddy Lee Raby Sr., 67, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
The son of Sannie and Jessie Gordon Raby, he was born May 26, 1928, in the Ten Mile area of Roane County. Dr. Raby lived most of his live in the Fairview Community of Oliver Springs. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan, during World War II.
Dr. Raby had been a Baptist minister for 45 years and was currently serving as pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Oak Ridge. He has pastured several churches throughout his ministry, including Windrock and New Fairview Baptist Church, Oliver Springs, Swan Pond Baptist Church in Kingston and Victory Baptist Church in Maryville. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He and his wife had also enjoyed RV travel the past several years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Nelson Raby; a daughter, Evelyn “Tutti” Bussell; his parents; and three brothers, Curtis, Awana K. and Ray Raby.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Juanita Raby of Oak Ridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Ronnie Strickland of Oakdale, Denise and Jim Gardner of Lenior City, Donna and Wayne Johnson of Oliver Springs, Robin Raby of Oliver Springs and Lisa Raby of Oak Ridge; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Punkin Raby, Teddy Jr. and Carol Raby and Sam Raby, all of Oliver Springs; brothers, Archie Raby, Gordon Raby and Lester Raby, all of Oliver Springs; sister, June Nelson of Oliver Springs; stepchildren and spouse, Kenny and Sheila Bradshaw of Oak Ridge, Tammy and Roy Forsythe of Oliver Springs and Teresa and David Pogue of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Chris Raby, Jennifer Raby, Courtney Strickland, Wesley Strickland, Teddy Lee Raby III, and Sannie Daniel Raby; step-grandchildren, Jay Bradshaw, Jenny Bradshaw, Robby Bradshaw, Justin Forsythe, Jeremy Forsythe and Jesse Forsythe.
Funeral service was Saturday in Sharp Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Any Miller, the Rev. Kenneth Stubbs and the Rev. Hugh Tripelett officiating. Burial and graveside service followed in New Fairview Cemetery.
Sharp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
