Gladys Irene Rainey, 66, of Oliver Springs, died Friday in Oak Ridge Health Care Center following an illness.
The daughter of George Henry and Rose Mary Daugherty Rainey, she was born May 30, 1929, in Lake City. She later moved to Petros, where she lived most of her live. She was a member of Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. Miss Rainey worked in the Harriman Hosiery Mill, Camel Tent, Standard Hosiery and retired from Bike Athletic of Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Albert, Willey, and Marvin Rainey.
Survivors include brothers, Garvin B. Rainey and Walter Rainey, both of Oliver Springs; special friends, Linda, Jan,. Betty and Jay; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Sunday in Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Marlow, the Rev. Oscar Hensley and C.S. Harvey officiating. Burial followed in Poplar Creek Cemetery.
Sharp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
