Sarah D. Raley




Sarah D. Raley, 94, of Lake City, died Jan. 8 at LaFollette Medical Center.

Mrs. Raley was born Feb. 16, 1899 in Coal Creek (Lake City) to the late J. A. and Jane Wallace Slover.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City, she also was a member of the Lake City Keen Club.

Mrs. Raley worked several years at the magnet Knitting Mill in Clinton.

Her son said that she “had a green thumb like you would not believe.”

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, T.L. and Frances Dabney; grandchildren, B.L. Dabney, all of Seminole, FL; Linda and husband, Alan Benware of Treasure Island, FL; great-grandchildren, David and Scott Dabney, Michelle Huffman, Brent and Melissa Benware; great-great-grandchildren, Roy and Sarah Huffman and Kenzie Benware.

Services were Monday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hubbs officiating. Burial was Tuesday at Leach Cemetery.
