Freddie Vann




Freddie Vann, age 73, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mr. Vann was born Jan. 16, 1929 in Morgan County.

He was a life-long resident of this area.

Mr. Vann was a Primitive Baptist preacher for 49 years.

He was a member of Elverton Baptist Church.

He was a retired builder and a member of local labor union #818.

Mr. Vann was preceded in death by: his father, Robert W. Vann; two brothers, Ralph Vann and Kenneth Vann.

Survivors: wife of 51 years, Ethel Vann of Oliver Springs; daughters, Jewell Sledge and husband, James of Sweetwater, Deanna Russell and husband Tim of Sweetwater, Ramona Turpin and husband Danny of Oliver Springs, Ella Mae Lowe of Oliver Springs, Wanda White and husband Chuck of Riceville, Vickie Clark and husband Benny of Oak Ridge; sons, Nathan Vann of Wartburg, Darrell Vann and wife Cissy of Sweetwater, Allen Vann and wife Misty of Philadelphia; 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Irvin Vann of Oliver Springs, Charles F. Vann of Oliver Springs, Robert Vann Jr. of Coalfield; sisters, Gladys Hutson of Kingston, Mildred Seeber of Oliver Springs, Odessa Vann of Oliver Springs, Margaret Greene of Oliver Springs, Ida Ruffner of Oliver Springs, Naomi Seiber of Oliver Springs; several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6-9 pm Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002 at Sharp Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held 1 pm Friday, March 1, 2002 at Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Burial followed at the Indain Creek Cemetery.

Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs, in charge of the arrangements.
