Mamie Melinda Vickery, age 82, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Vickery was born June 30, 1920 in Anderson County.
She retired from Woolworth Department Store of Oak Ridge in 1967. She had previously worked at Emory’s 5 & 10 and Tuppertown Elementary School. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Oak Ridge. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
Mrs. Vickery was preceded in death by: her parents, William Odell Lively and Mollie Braden Lively; sisters, Hazel Bolden and Pearl West; brother, Wayne Lively.
Survivors: husband of 64 years, Earl Vickery of Oliver Springs; daughter, Sue White and husband Albert of Oliver Springs; sons, Jack Vickery and wife Phyllis of Houston, TX; Hugh Vickery of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Brian Keith Vickery, Cindy Harkrider, Pippa Vickery, Brad White, Jimmy Vickery and Debra Miller; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Lively and wife Bernice of Oliver Springs; Roy Lively and wife Evelyn of Oliver Springs; sisters, Mary Cox of Kingston, Edna Lynn, Pat Thomas, Joyce Patterson, Lola Huskey and husband Ralph, all of Oliver Springs; brother-in-law, Harold West of Oliver Springs; a host of nieces and nephews.
The family received friends 6-8 pm Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at Sharp Funeral Home with funeral services following at 8 pm in the chapel with the Rev. Andy Miller officiating.
Burial and graveside services were at 11 am Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
