Josephine Bennett (Granny Jo) Viles, 78, of Lake City, died Dec. 25 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a long illness.

Mrs. Viles was born Dec. 1, 1915, to the late Frank and Annie Bennett of Coal Creek (Lake City).

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. T. Viles, and a brother, Vaughn Bennett.

Mrs. Viles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City and the Order of the Eastern Star F&AM No. 226 and a longtime member of the Democratic party.

Survivors include five children, Patricia Kerrigan of Nashville, Billy, Buddy, and Danny Viles of Lake City; and Brenda Goodman of Lake City; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Tudor of Knoxville.

Funeral services were held Monday in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. David Lord and the Rev. Wayne Hubbs officiating. Burial was Tuesday at Leach Cemetery.
