Wallace Lee Viles, 77, of
Knoxville, formerly of Clinton, died Sept. 5 at Fort Sanders Park West Medical Center. He had been in declining health for
several years.
He was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church in Maryville He had been employed by Magnet Mills in Clinton and the Clinton Drug Store in earlier years. Mr. Viles was a
Public Safety Director with the Tennessee Valley Authority for 14 years at Douglas Dam in Dandridge. He was a real estate entrepreneur and had owned and operated several businesses in Florida before returning to Tennessee.
Mr. Viles was a Navy veteran and served during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his father, O.C. Viles; mother, Ella
Wallace Viles; and a sister, Margie Viles Leever.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth L. Viles of Knoxville; a son, Wallace L. Viles Jr. of Knoxville; granddaughters, Elizabeth Viles Schultz of Champaign, Ill.; Tammy Viles Schroeder of Virginia Beach, Va.; Tina Viles Roberts of Norfolk,
Va.; two great-granddaughters; a sister, Aileen Viles McCroskey of Maryville; sister-in-law, LaHoma M. Wardup of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A graveside Service was held Saturday at Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
