Funeral services were held Sunday
at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City for Clyde E. Vowell, 78, of Lake City Rt. 2, who died Saturday at his home. The Rev. John Hunley and the Rev. Mike Foust officiated. Burial was
Monday at Pine Hill Cemetery.
He was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church.
Born July 8, 1914, in Briceville, Mr. Vowell was the son of the late Albert and Bessie Odell Vowell.
He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority, where he had worked for 13 years in the engineering lab at Norris. He had also worked as a coal miner for Beech Grove Mining Co.
Mr. Vowell's hobbies included fishing and hunting and gardening.
A daughter, Patricia Vowell, and a son,
Terry Lynn Vowell, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Bolton Vowell of Lake City; two daughters, Rhonda Devaney Brooks and Joyce Rebecca (Becky) Vowell of Lake City; one son, David Stephen (Steve) Vowell of Lake City and Mary Renner of Indiana; two brothers, Murrell Vowell and Charles Vowell, both of Lake City; several
nieces and nephews; and many other relatives.
