Edith L. Vowell, age 82, of Briceville passed away Friday, April 9, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mrs. Vowell was a member of Briceville First Baptist Church. She was the retired owner and operator of Shamrock Grocery in Briceville. She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas K. Vowell; parents, Judson and Stella Lillian Hill Henderson; and brothers, Charles and Ralph Henderson and Clyde Chapman.

Survivors: brothers, Roy Chapman and wife Sue of Zellwood, FL, Jerry Chapman and wife Linda of Carrollton, TX; sister, Veda Harshbarger of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Edna Henderson of Clinton and Jane Chapman of Clinton; five nephews, three nieces and a host of friends.

The family received friends from 6-8 pm Sunday, April 11 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City, with the funeral services following in the chapel with the Rev. Rick Teague and Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating.

Interment was 11 am Monday, April 12, in McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, Claxton.

Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in lake City was in charge of all arrangements.
