Lake Vowell, 91, of Laurel Grove
Community in
Briceville, died Friday, Feb. 23, 1996, in Methodist Medical Center of
Oak Ridge.
Mrs.
Vowell was one of the oldest members of Laurel Grove Baptist Church. She
and her late husband,
James Vowell, owned and operated Vowell's Grocery. She was norn in Knox
County, Ky.
In
addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Elbert
Vowell; parents, Harland and
Loucinda Madin Francis; sisters, Madge Murphy, Hazel Hall and Nell
Callicoat; brothers, Delmus
Vowell and Hubbard Vowell.
Survivors are daughters and sons-in-law,
Alma and John Owsley
of Lkae City and Ginger and Ronnie Smiddy of Briceville; grandchildren,
JOhn Owsley and wife, Sarah,
of Oak Ridge, Angela Connaster and Husband, Eddie Connaster of Knoxville,
Mark Owsley of Clinton,
Lake McCoy and husband, Steve McCoy of Lake City, Michael Vowell and
Shawn Vowell of Houston,
Texas, Kelly Vowell and wife, Jenny Vowell, of Bessemer City, NC. and
Brian Vowell and wife, Karen
Vowell of Merrillville, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Shain Vowell
and wife, Luellen, Deanna
Duncan, Marie Owsley, Aaron Owsley, Cahterine Connaster, Nichole Owsley,
Joshua Owsley, Joanna
McCoy, Kirk Vowell, Keith Vowell, Nicole Vowell; great-great grandson,

Funeral service is 2 pm Sunday, Feb. 25, in
Laurel Grove Baptist Church
with Rev. David White and Rev. Charlie Mack Marlow officiating.
Interment follows in Laurel Grove
Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour before services. Family
received friends 6 - 9 pm
Saturday in Cox Funeral Home, Lake City.
