Chapter IIIHunting Ohmar the Monster BallPage 23 |
Turtle Dove, Blue Jay, Yellow-winged Blackbird and Cardinal held a conference to discus what they had seen. They wondered why on Earth Ms Kitty was so upset with Ohmar. He had such a happy little face and if all he wanted to do was play, why should that be so terrible? Blue and his family had lived here for a number of years and he had some idea of what Ms Kitty had gone through. He had seen her run in fear from humans and anything having to do with them and also other cats and of course dogs. He had seen Humans throw rocks at her and chase her away. He had seen her nearly run over by a car. He had seen a huge branch nearly crush her. He didn't approve of her trying to catch fallen baby birds, but he knew that that was a part of Nature and she couldn't help that she was in a position to either hunt or starve. He noticed, too, that after the gentleman frm the brick house began putting food out for her she seldom seriously hunted any of the creatures in the area. Although Ms Kitty was Blue's natural enemy, he understood her and respected her for her ability to survive. He and all the other creatures were under similar stress constantly. One had to be wary to survive. |
and said, "Well, I'll tell you one of the problems!" "What is it??", they all cried. "Well," continued Ms Cat Squirrel, "Remember that Ms Kitty didn't seem frightened until she heard that scary chortle of Ohmars' and Ohmar threw himself AT her. Ms Kitty thought she was being attacked and the noise frightened her even more than Ohmar's 'attack.'"

Mrs Cardinal and Little Titmouse, who had witnessed the whole thing agreed.
"Sure!" Mrs. Cardinal explained. "That silly chortle was just like screaming a big BOOO to someone who is afraid of ghosts. Ohmar, you must stop trying to surprise folks. I think Ms Kitty was curious enough that she would have tried to find out what you were about, but you simply scared her off."
