WILD FLOWERS OF EAST TEXASPage 8A small collection of plants found by Leona Halley Henderson |
It is not indigent to East Texas; it is a cultivar, I think. A cutting was given to me by a lady in Frankston Texas and as she had several species of Dogwood, we both forgot which one this was.. The blooms don't last very long, about like any Dogwood, but are so fresh and lovely, they earn their space. They are a pristine white, but the scanner picks up color via reflection and casts it on the background and the speciman itself. Gives it a nice soft look, though.

A Compositae and a specie of Coreopsis. It is growing wild hiding a stump. The clump gets a tiny bit larger last few years. It will bloom nearly all summer and I am very happy to have it share my yard. Any ideas of it's true scientific name??

Scanned 11-01-2000. A different specie... putting it here just because it is so pretty! They are growing just above the lake shore. They are a beautifully soft, clean, clear, bright yellow, but I thought these softened to pastels were pretty, too. Almost like a water color. |

By itself, this tiny plant isn't very impressive, but it grows in patches along the road ways and meadows, and it is like a breath of fresh air with its cool delicate blooms.
