Paris 2000 |
On our way home from Taize we popped into Paris - well who wouldn't? It was a very hot day as we walked along the Seine paying extortionate prices for cans of juice. Paris is a beautiful city by day but by night it's something else! Stunning! Our journey took us from the Eiffel towel along the Seine to the Place de La Concorde where there was a wheel - a millenium wheel (oh no not another) but it proved to be very exciting giving a fantastic view around the city. Then it was up the Champs Elyssee towards the Arc de Triomph where we met a couple of familiar looking "beggars". Then a trip on the Metro to Notre Dame where the party was in full fling . . . street players, stunt roller blade show, rose sellers (well it is meant to be a city of romance). Then up the Seine again past the artists and . . . yes . . . the lovers . . . ahhhhhhh. Then an "interesting" train journey back to our campsite outside Paris. The campsite was adequate but not as nice as the one at Eperney where we stayed on the way down towards Taize. One day in Paris is not enough! |
