Abrams Chapel

Location:
Gillis Mills in Southeast Hardin Co., TN

History:
Built in the early 1900's by William Fletcher "Bud" Abrams who lived on a farm in sight of the church. Bud had a sawmill and he and his six sons cut the timber to build the church. He and his wife Sarah are buried in the Gillis Mills Cemetery in sight of the church.

William Fletcher (1839-1922) was born in Lauderdale Co., AL, the son of Thomas Oscar Abrams (1795-1860) and Alcey Duckett Robertson Abrams (1802-1872). Sarah (1842-1932) was the daughter of Dougal Mathis. Below is a picture of their six sons.
