Confederate Battle flag-The Confederate battle flag is not now, nor ever has been, a flag of sovereignty. It is strictly a military ensign, a regimental color of the Confederate armed forces. The rectangular version was carried both by units of the Confederate Army as well as flown on ships of the Confederate Navy. The Confederate battle flag was never flown in any sovereign capacity by any government.
Remember it was AMERICAN's that fought under that flag!
