THE ONE WHO LIFTS UP MY HEAD (Psalm 3:3)
The One Who Lifts Up My Head
Psalm 3:3
"But You O Lord, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head..."
The little boy sat outside on the steps.
Teasrs streamed down the tiny face. Although he was crying, the sobs of pain were almost silent.
Quietly and tenderly the father knelt down in front of the broken hearted little lad.
"Son", the father said, "What's the matter?". The little boy wiped a dirty little hand over his eyes to wipe away the tears, leaving a dark
smudge across his face. Looking down at the ground, he wiped his nose with the sleeve of his shirt and said
"Daddy, my favorite truck got broke. The kid next door broke it just to be mean. He knew it was my bestest truck.."
"Well now," the father replied, "let Dad just have a look at it alright?"
The son reached down and pulled his little truck out from under the step. He very carefully handed it to his father and then gave his nose one more wipe.
The father looked the truck over. Then he tenderly put his hand under the wee lads chin and raised his bowed head so that the son was looking him in the eye."It's not really that bad. I think I can fix it" the father consoled.
The little boys eyes got large and he sat straight. A hopeful smile appeared on his face.........
How often in our lives we are like the little boy in the story. Some times life can be mean. Often it deals us cruel blows. It can come to the point where the tears we cry are from such pain that audible sobs aren't heard.
But at that moment, God the Father desires to tenderly place His hand under our chin and lift our head so that our eyes look upward up to Him.
With more love than our hearts have ever heard we hear Him say "Fear not My child. I will never leave you nor forsake you. The Lord is your Helper. If God be for you then who can be against you? I have you carved upon the palm of My hand.
All things are possible for those who love God......"
Our eyes become large, and we smile, for hope has come again.....
"Thankyou Lord, that no matter what happens
You are there to comfort me. The length of my days are in your hand O God. You can turn all situations around for my good so that I may proclaim with the psalmist..."You are my Glory, and the One Who lifts up my head"
