About 5 1/2 yers ago I lost my brother-in-law to suicide, he was only 21 years old and was married with a 9month old son, who will never get to know his father. My brother-in-law's name was Scott and he seemed to have everything going for him. He was in the military and he and my sister had just had a baby boy named Keegean who was the light of their lives. Thru time my sister and he grew farther apart and Scott physically began hitting my sister, that is when she went to a shelter and began considering leaving him. It was at this point that Scott became depressed and one day shot himself in front of his son and my sister. He was rushed to the emergency room, where doctors fought to save his life but less than 24 hours later he died. I am not sure whether he knew the Lord or not so I am unsure where he is spending eternity. The chruch we went to was like a family to us and when one person was affected by loss the entire body of Christ was affected. I remember the kindest and hardest thing that the pastor's wife ever did, and it made me realize how much God loved me and my family at this point of loss. The pastor's wife was an e.r. nurse so she was used to dealing with "blood and guts" and she and my mom scrubbed the apartment where it all happened. I can not tell you how much God became real to me, I was still a teenager myself and suicide didn't seem real or possible, and it was not neat or clean as many think that it is. I still to this day have no idea how they cleaned the apartment except thru God. For a couple of weeks that followed, chruch members sent food over to the house, supported us and loved us like I belive Jesus does. And the miracle out of this all today is 5 yr old Keegean who starts school this fall. He has no memories of that awful day and God sent him a good step father and baby sister. Keegean knows what most adults do not--that Jesus loves Him!!!!! God can take the ashes of our lives and turn them into a masterpiece--if we let Him!!
