Welcome
to the family page for Chuck & Miriam Page
This was a year of major changes in our family. Chuck lost both his dad and mom (Gramps and Granny), in April and October. Charlie Sr. died four days before his 91st birthday, and Jean died five days before her 85th. (Obituary links can be made by clicking here: Charles "Charlie" Page and M. Jean Page). On November 4 they would have been married 68 years. Christmas Eve (and other family events) will not be the same.
We did take a picture of all of our family on Christmas Eve 2006 and here is what we looked like at the time. As an update Jennifer is expecting another baby by October 14 of this year. We are hoping for a girl to help balance between the current 3 boys and one girl. But we will, of course, be happy just to have another family member.

On a happier note, we took our first Elderhostel trip in May to the Four Corners area. We spent an extra week on either side of the Elderhostel to travel and visit friends (from high school, college and our working days) and our son Marc. It was an amazing experience, and we hope to do more Elderhostels--the hardest part is deciding which ones we want to do! (link to pictures)

Everyone will be home for Christmas so we will have a new picture with all the grandkids soon.

Our seven grandchildren continue to be special gifts to us, and we thank our children for them.
Other gifts included our continued good health. It's hard to believe we are now both on Medicare, since we're not THAT old! We continue our volunteer activities, although we have cut back somewhat. Chuck is still Webservant for St. Isidore Parish, with a web committee of 10 volunteers who have taken on a lot of the various ministries. We still both serve on the the Board of Directors for the Yuba-Sutter Right to Life Organization (which involved analyzing and reporting on state legislation that impacts family and life issues, providing workshops on sex education in our schools, and coordinating pro-life educational and informational activities in the communities within the counties of Sutter, Yuba and Colusa).
Below are brief updates on our children and their families!
Juliana & John
|
Our oldest daughterJuliana and
son-in-lawJohn Williamson-Page live in
Monterey
, about 3 blocks from Cannery Row. We
love to visit them to enjoy the local restaurants. Juli is now working part-time for the Monterey County Public Defender as she works on completing her degree in computer science, and John still teaches at Alvarez High School and is Chair of the Social Studies Department. For Christmas 2005 they treated themselves to a vacation in London, England. Here is a link to the pictures of their trip. View London Dec. 23-29, 2005. Pictured on the left are Juli & John on the bus on the London trip. Below they are together in London.

Stephanie, Curt and Lenin
July 31, 2005, moving day. |
Daughter Steph and son-in-law Curt, with granddaughter Lenin (8) are in Iowa. Professor Curt teaches at
Drake University, where Steph is taking classes and should graduate Spring 2008--that sounds like a good reason for us to visit! Miss Lenin plays basketball (naturally). We miss them very much but do not envy them their weather

Marcus
|
Marc, our eldest son, still a
bachelor and with a self-imposed vow of poverty, established the Trinity House in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a Catholic Worker
Chapter which houses the homeless, with the approval of the the local Catholic Diocese and with a Board of Trustees to help him. He is truly committed to his work and to peace activism, which lends itself to some animated discussions with me. We truly admired his "walking his talk" when it comes to practicing our faith. In the picture on the left (which has been sized down) he is with members of Pax Christi at a meeting with Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico. Marc is the third on the left in the back row. Be sure to check out his website. The link is on the left side menu of this page. |
Geoff, Kristi, Sean & Tyler
|
Geoff, our youngest son, and Kristi, our daughter-in-law live here in Yuba
City. He is a cop for the Marysville P.D. Between his
time with the Yuba Co. Sheriff and Marysville, he has been in the business now
over 10 years. His current assignment is the School Resource Officer for Marysville H.S. and several other elementary and middle schools. The kids and the staff just love him and he gets a
lot of coverage in the local newspaper. They have given us two grandsons. Sean (7), has Down Syndrome and is just pure love. He attends Butte Vista School and is privileged to ride "his" horse Tommy as a part of Able Riders program. Tyler (2) has been running non-stop since he was 9 months old and keeps everyone busy chasing him.
|
Jennifer, Brian, Spencer, Sterling, Samantha & Seth
|
Jeni, our youngest daughter,
and Brian, our son-in-law, live in Colusa and have given us 4 grandkids. Jeni has been homeschooling since Spencer was in second grade and the children are all good students with high scores on State tests. In their little town homeschoolers are able to participate on school sports teams, so Spencer (15) has played junior varsity basketball and baseball for two years. Sterling (11) still plays Little League. Miss Samantha (6) is very much a young lady who loves to get dressed up and is already an accomplished reader. Seth (3) is no longer a baby, but is still tow-headed sweetie. |
