On a recent trip to Old Orchard Beach, Maine, we took a day trip up to Portland, Maine, and boarded a ferry boat for what is known as the "Sunset Cruise". The boat stopped at various islands and allowed passengers to board and un-board. The boat is the only means for many of these folks to get to and from their island homes. The weather was great as we cruised around with the wind in our faces. There were very many interesting things to see including a couple of old Civil War Forts and lighthouses. One of the forts was right in the middle of the bay but, much like computers, was obsolete before it was even finished. Because of this fact, not a single cannon was ever fired from the site. As we made our way back to port, the sun was setting fire to the water. It was a very beautiful site which put a great ending to our night on Casco Bay.
