Nicole and I just returned from our summer vacation to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We spent five relaxing days soaking up the sun on the beach. We stayed at a very nice hotel called The Sea Drift. It was only one block from the beach. It had a nice heated pool and each room had a kitchenette and a deck. One of the only draw-backs of the hotel is the train that runs directly behind it. It can be pretty loud...especially at 3:00 in the morning! It practically shook you out of bed. At night we would walk down to the center of town, where there is always plenty going on. There are rides, miniature golf, games, night-clubs, and lots of good things to eat. One evening we drove to Portland, Maine, and walked along the various fishing wharfs. There were a lot of little shops to duck in to and plenty of little pubs at which to dine. There was even a cool little shop, called The Java Net Cafe, where you could get a cup of fresh brewed coffee and surf the internet. Overall we had a great time.
On our way home, we stopped in York, Maine, to see the Nubble Lighthouse. It is a very picturesque place to visit. We like to stop there whenever we visit the coast. It is quite a sight, with it's flashing light, and the water crashing on to the rocks which surround the tiny island that it resides on.
