"Jack" was my best friend in the world (for 18 year's) and I still miss him very much. He was Sha Zahn's biggest supporter and when he died (of a massive stroke) I lost all interests in this hobby for a year and a half. I couldn't picture having fun at dog shows without him there to cheer us on and without someone to share in the high's and low's it just didn't mean anything to me anymore. I did eventually start to miss the show ring and did start showing afghans again, but the shows will never be the same as they once were. Jack always said "I never met an afghan I couldn't spoil", but the truth is he never met a DOG (or any animal for that matter) that he couldn't "spoil". After a first visit at any of our "dog friend's" houses, the dogs would always greet him like a long lost friend BECAUSE he could never eat a thing at anyone's home without sneaking a piece to the dogs when their owner's weren't looking. Sometimes he'd get caught and our friend's would (jokingly) get mad at him saying that he was teaching them bad manner's but it was always worth it to Jack because he knew he'd gained a new four legged friend! I know that Jack is in heaven spoiling each and every animal that will let him!
