I found your site by searching "blom" which was my mother's maiden name. The family is described as German but I do not know when they came to Americas...atleast four generations ago. They were and still are farmers in the Alhabra, Illinois area. My Grandfather was August Blom and his father was Earnst Blom ( he may have been adopted into the family or have been illegitimate child using his mothers family name). When I retire (5 or so years) I hope to start researching the family history. If you have any reason to think you are related to the Blom families in southern Illinois, let me know and perhaps I can help from this end. Any hints on how to get started would be appreciated. This is great!!!
