Cheryl & Bruce's Page!
I have officially tied the knot with a fellow Celt, Bruce (good Scots name) on January 17th, 1998. Above is our wedding picture. Bruce and I share many of the same interests including history, travel, books, movies and someday also getting a pet dog (only if he gets along well with Nicky). We have been together for over five years now. We look forward to many more splendid days as we journey the rest of our lives in wedded bliss.
Here we are on our honeymoon in Maine. We had a wonderful time sharing beautiful sunrises together and beautiful scenery - not to mention great lobster.
I am on a quest researching my Welsh Celtic roots along with researching the background of the Vaughan (original spelling) family. Nicky gets into it and is quite a help. He loves Celtic music and dances whenever bagpipes play. His favorite groups are the Chieftans and Steeleye Span. l enjoy researching the History of the Celts along with the History of England. I recently made a trip to my ancestrial birthplace of my family, Builth Wells, Wales. I also visited Stonehenge which was a life long dream along with visiting several English castles including Middleham, the home of my favorite King, Richard III.
This is our Cockatiel, Nicky! Nicky was a healthy and happy cockatiel. His favorite words were "Come Here!" which always resulted in a treat. Nicky was the center of attention when guests arrived and was not the least bit humble. He told everyone that "Nicky is a good boy!" Nicky was "Pet of the Week" on Wisconsin Humane Society's Television Show, "Paw and Beak" in 1997. Nicky had some health problems with his liver. He saw the vet regularly and was doing fine, thanks to good care and herbal remedies. The vet had suggested putting him down when he started having problems, but thankfully, we decided not to, and he had been his normal happy self, except for those occasional vet visits. If you want to read about other birds that are going through tough times and illnesses, please stop by the Feathered Angel page and share your thoughts and prayers with the birds featured there. Our dear Nicky passed away on August 9th of 2000. He was our special little friend, and we loved him dearly. He lived with us for 10 of his 15 years. Please stop back soon for a memorial and more photos of Nicky! Two photos of Nicky on this page! As well as two new poems that feature him. We found a beautiful box for Nicky!!! It is a bronze ornate box decorated with Celtic knotwork. But the special neat thing is that the inside of the box is decorated with bird knotwork!! It's like it was made for him!! What a perfect resting place for this special little guy!
We have a New member of our Family! Here are a couple pictures of our new Cockatiel, Tookie. He was adopted from the Wisconsin Humane Society in January, 2001. At that time he was 2 years old and so is 2 1/2 years old in these photos. So, far, Tookie is getting used to his new home. He already likes to sit on my shoulder and imitates our phone perfectly. Sometimes we are not sure which to answer - the bird or the phone! Well, with the telemarketers we get, I think I'd rather answer the bird!! Anyway, that's the initial news on Tookie and I will be adding more here as we get to know him more."
My women's writing circle and myself have published a book of poems and other works called
"Sparkle, Sizzle, Hiss". If you are interested in hearing more about it, please Email me by
