I wrote this poem for my mother and my mother-in-law in honor of Mother's Day. My mother died when I was 12 years old. I was blessed with a mother-in-law when I was 18 years old.

Mother's Day

Long ago
Mom went to heaven;
That tragic day
I was one past eleven.

Four years ago
You came into my life;
That wonderful day
I became your son's wife.

For all you've done
I would like to say
Thank you, I love you
Happy Mother's Day!

**In 1994 (the year I wrote this poem), I submitted this poem to our local newspaper for a Mother's Day poem contest they were having. I won 1st place in the adult category!! :o)
