For My Father; My Best Friend

I don't think I ever told you,
How much I appreciate the things you do.

You've always been there when I cried,
And always spotted when I lied.

You've cleaned my wounds when I got hurt,
And punished me when I played in the dirt.

You were always there to kiss me goodnight,
You always knew how to make things alright.

You are my inspiration, Dad, and I love you,
I can't imagine what it would be like without your loving touch.

You will always and forever come first in my heart,
It won't matter a bit how far apart we are.

Dad, I haven't told you, I don't know where these words have been,
You're not just my father, you're also my best friend!
