Man have I been busy... first the unexpected TDY and then a week of war games. I worked the night shift so somedays I didn't know if I was coming or going. I did gain more experience and the thought of another Phase I doesn't frighten me anymore. I think I finally have a clue ;-
Starting this past Friday night, I'm doing acting First Sergeant duties again for a week. So far "the" phone has rung twice... one was the medical clinic calling saying that a member of our squadron was highly upset over the pharmacy being closed and thought I should know. He couldn't give me a name because the person had hung up on him. I narrowed the possibilities down on who it could have been and sure enough it was a MSgt that had just had surgery. I called him and he was still upset... I let him vent some and then offered to help in anyway I could. What else could I do? The second phone call was from the commander... he had forgetten that I had the phone so he didn't need anything after all. Him forgetting sure didn't surprise me... he tends to forget a lot of things ;-)
Well, I feel I finally have gotten caught up on stuff here at home so I guess I better get busy working on my speeches... oh yeah, I almost forgot. My son is going to really fight Dan "The Beast" Severn as the Main Event in the upcoming WEF competition. Check out this web site for more information... http://www.worldextremefighting.cc I bought my plane tickets yesterday as I decided that even though this scares me to death that I'd rather be there watching then here wondering. Stay tuned for the outcome on April 21st...
21 APRIL 2001
In an unbelievable display of raw courage, strength, and technique, Jonathan made the legendary Dan “The Beast” Severn tap out in the 2nd round with a front choke hold. It was positively the most incredible thing I’ve ever witnessed. I knew he had a chance of winning because I saw his first fight last year, but up against this more experienced man, I never dreamed that he would actually do it. I think he surprised everyone including himself especially after the brutal 1st round where he took a lot of hits and kicks and almost got choked out himself. Although he does have a couple nasty bruises on his body and his face, we have to thank the Good Lord there was no major damage. And thank you for all your prayers.
