Just got off the phone with Jonathan... he's in the hospital getting stitches for a cut below his eye. Heck of a beating he took during the first 4 min THEN Jonathan took Wade Shipp down and commenced to beat the crap out of him. 39 seconds later the referee stopped the fight. So yes he WON!!
But truth be told, he shouldn't have been fighting because he has a fractured vertebrae...he told me that AFTER the fight! I knew his back was messed up, but had no idea it was that bad. His manager wanted to cancel the fight, but Jonathan absolutely refused. Stubborn Stubborn Stubborn! Anyway, he said because of his back, his strategy was to take the punches from Shipp until Shipp tired out and then he would take him down and finish it. Thank God it worked, he didn't get hurt too bad, and most of all, thank God he didn't get paralyzed. That was my biggest fear and being so far away didn't help my anxieties one bit. By the way, he doesn't want me to watch it when the video comes out, but you can, however, I have no idea how long it takes before it will hit the video stores.
Okay, it is over, I've written this email so I guess I can relax now :-)

I would imagine the video will be called UFC 47 - It's On. Not sure though but if I find out something different, I'll let you know. Yes, he got 4 grand this time which is the most he has ever got. Next time, it will double and the time after that too. In other words, as long as he is in the UFC, he'll double his money each time. So no, he's not going to retire, but he is going to take some time and heal his back. Theoretically anyway.
I'm in the Northwest corner of Cyprus. Akrotiri to be exact.
Today, I'm just taking it easy as I've had a fun filled week. Went to the American Embassy in Nicosia on Friday and then out to a Mexican restaurant in Lemosos. Both were great! The "doing" that is... the drive through the country was interesting and I've finally decided (and it was confirmed) that this is a "desert" island and not a tropical island like I was expecting. So with that in mind, I can appreciate the mountainous landscape, the different plant life, and the green grass from the rains a month ago. All that will turn brown by summer so it was a special treat. The restaurant was disappointing as it took an hour for our food to be served and we were the only ones in the darn place. There were 8 of us so I guess that took them by surprise or something :-) The food itself wasn't bad; however, the amount wasn't much. For example, I ordered cheese enchiladas and it came with beans and rice. The amount of beans was about a tablespoon. Oh well, like I said, just going somewhere different and experiencing it all was satisfying to me. Next Friday, we are going to a place that serves platters full of each course and everyone just digs in. Yes, in other words, I found a group of people that like to try new restaurants and so I'll be joining them every Friday :-)
Well, I best be on my merry way... I have to go wash the rental car.

Just found out that my application for reassignment to the 3 Florida bases was disapproved so I guess it is meant for me to stay at Moody a while longer. So Mom, go ahead and renew your lease for a year. Love...from your disappointed daughter

Yeah, I'm disappointed I couldn't get closer to you, but you can't win them all. So I'm ready to settle in Valdosta GA! :-) And you are right, it does seem like the right time to look for a private real estate spot. Want to help me find the perfect spot? Yes, I do like that idea...have one of the structures built to protect the motorhome and give me more living space, have a nice deck built, bbq pit, hot tub, garden, lots of brick work, flowers, a big dog to protect me, etc. etc. Just thoughts right now :-) Are you tired from all that work I just drummed up for you? Love....from your dreaming daughter :-)
An email that I sent to my base:
And I appreciate that SMSgt Webster...I really do, but AFSOC already said they couldn't hook me up and I have tried special duty, short tours, and finally the BOP. If I get command-leveled then I get command-leveled. In other words, I'm tired of trying and being disappointed. I'm a big believer in what is meant to be will be and if the Good Lord (not to get religious on you) wants me to stay at Moody then I'll stay at Moody which it seems He wants me to do. However, if you have a good lead on something, that might be a different story, but if you don't then I'd rather not stay in limbo any longer. I want to be able to get on with my life and my dreams, plus I have to think of my mother. She had her hopes up for the BOP too and was disappointed as well.
So yes, I'm happy :-) and I'll do the best possible job I can in whatever position you place me in. I know the UCI is coming up shortly after I get back so I understand that you may not want new blood (especially my PSM blood) in a position that needs more experience. In other words, I'll understand if you want me to continue to do "special projects" until after things settle down. Heck, deploy me again if you want too. As you know, I'm not looking to "fill the squares" for promotion so that ought to help with the decision too. I just ask that once you do make the decision, please let me know so that I can get out of this "limbo" mode I've been in for the last 6 months.
Thanks and have a great Air Force day :-)

I did some figuring this morning on my finances and I'll make enough money on this deployment to pay off my car which means I'll be TOTALLY debt free by 1 July! And after setting aside $1500 for Mirada tires and other maintenance, I'll have $10,000 cash in the bank sooooooooooooooooooooo me thinks that it really is doable for me to look for some land :-) I get 2 weeks off when I return so maybe you can think about bringing Mirada to me and we can investigate the possibilities?? Just a thought to think about :-)

I guess I haven't written for awhile have I?...ooops...I've actually been busy lately, but I'm still having a blast over here. Very very nice "working" vacation :-) Let's see....I made it to the beach, the cliffs, the bay, the Embassy, out shopping, out to dinner a few times... In fact, we are going back to my favorite place tonight :-) It's a place called Michael's Tavern and they offer what they call over here "meze"... it's little tidbits of local cuisine served on small plates that 2 or 3 people share...and once you finish one plate, they bring out another... almost like little appetizers... there are things like lamb and chicken and mushrooms and pork and even french fries. My favorite was the goat cheese... yum yum! The beer was good too! :-)
Did I not tell you about my assignment disapproval? Yep, it was disapproved so I'm staying at Moody as long as I can. I might even look for some land to buy to park my RV on... in fact, Dad suggested that :-) I told Mom to sign another year's lease too.
I leave here on or about the 12th of June; however, that is subject to change depending on my replacement's arrival. No, I don't want to go. Not only do I love the job, I'm making good money too. Did I tell you that I already paid off my credit card and will be able to pay off my car when I return? Yep, I'll be totally debt free.
Weather's great here.... 70's during the day and 50's at night. Perrrrrrrrrrrfect for me :-)

I celebrated my day off yesterday by taking a walk on the beach; however, a mile down I had to turn around because there was a herd of goats coming my way... there were 2 humans and a dog keeping them on track... oh my what a sight! Too bad I didn't have my camera because you sure don't see that very often. Other than that I did domestic duties... laundry, ironing, and polishing my boots. By the way, I may be leaving here a few days earlier than anticipated because my replacement is arriving early. I'm going to try to stay as long as I can because I want/need the $$ :-)
Back.
