I've been planning my upcoming adventures all weekend :-) There's Tallahassee FL on 17 Feb and then St George's Island on 17 Mar, April I'm planning a day trip to Jacksonville and in May I will be traveling to Washington DC with my mother to see my sister graduate from law school. June brings a two-week trip to Long Island NY where I'll join my father at my brother's house. He'll be housesitting while they travel to Europe. This trip will be a true adventure as I'm planning to take my first-ever AMTRAK train ride all by myself. Once I get to New York, I'm going to hop on another train that will take me to my Long Island destination. I'm really looking forward to the experience and the challenge of travelling solo. Let's see... I'm planning a trip to Jekyll Island with my daughter Christina. We were going to go over Memorial Day weekend, but with the graduation trip coming up unexpectedly, we'll have to postpone til September... maybe Labor Day. I still have to discuss this with her when she comes over Tuesday for family dinner night. Also, my dad and I are going to float down the Blackwater River sometime this summer with an inflatable canoe that we are going to look at while we are in New York. Now that ought to be a blast! Next year, I'm planning a trip to London with my very best friend and adopted mother Althea. In fact, her and I are planning all kinds of adventures in the next 5 years... from a Disneyworld trip sometime this summer, our London trip in 2002, a New Orleans trip in 2003 and an Alaskan Cruise in 2005. We haven't decided on what to do in 2004 yet, but I'm sure we'll think of something fun :-) Yes, I truly enjoy planning my adventures as well as actually experiencing them. Well, that's all for now...

Today is my son's 22nd birthday. Man, am I getting old ;-)
11 FEBRUARY 2001
I made a comment to a co-worker last week about my not having a life because I spent the whole weekend at home without bothering to get dressed for the day (meaning I stayed in my comfy clothes). Well after spending yet another weekend the same way, I've come to the conclusion that I ENJOY this and I have no problem with not having to meet deadlines, stay on a schedule, or deal with people in general. After doing all 3, 5 days a week, it is a welcome escape that I look forward to. Now don't get me wrong, I love my weekend adventures that I strive to go on at least once a month, but there again, my adventures are still escapes from the deadlines and schedules. So as I sit here composing my thoughts for my journal entry, I have to take back that comment of not having a life because in reality I do... and I like it!!
18 FEBURARY 2001
I went on my Tallahassee adventure with my mother yesterday... I was able to maintain my patience level and we ended up having a very nice day. I took her to one of the two big malls in Tallahassee where we spent the majority of the day. They had a Barnes and Nobles bookstore that we visited first. It wasn't quite the visit that I had imagined for myself, however, I changed my thought processes midstream and it worked out just fine. You see, I had imagined that we would get our coffee fixes and then go our separate ways to escape into the wonderful world of literary geniuses. And it started out that way, but 5 minutes later she was at my side soooooooo instead of getting frustrated, I just simply put my books away and told myself that I could enjoy that luxury alone another time. The next half hour was filled with my jotting down in my Palm the names and authors of all the new books that she wanted to read. This way I could email the list to her and she could take it to the local library and put the books on the reserve list. Viola! Perfect solution ;-)
We had planned to see the movie "Finding Forrester" at 1:25 pm so we headed back to the other side of the mall… a very nice walk where we even stopped into this art gallery called "Art Encounters" and learned a few interesting tidbits of information such as why you don't see very many "Nagle" prints anymore, why they frame their art as they do, and even got introduced to an artist that I thought had a wonderful ability to capture the essence of light in nature. His name is Hans-Werner Sahm. It was a most enjoyable unexpected treat ;-)
After our art encounter we still had time to spare before the movie so we got a table at "Garfield's Restaurant and Pub" and shared "The Perfect Margarita" and snacked on an appetizer. We found that we truly enjoy experiencing a new restaurant this way and it's economical too!
The movie "Finding Forrester" was absolutely wonderful! It hit on everyone of my emotions and if a movie can do that, then it gets my A+ rating. If you haven't seen it, you should.
On the way home, we stopped by one of our favorite BBQ restaurants; however, I don't think it's our favorite anymore. They stopped selling beer, and to eat ribs without a pitcher of beer is sinful. We ate the ribs anyhow, but it just wasn't the same. In fact, Mom didn't even finish hers which is a very good indication that we won't be going there again.
All in all, the day was an astounding successful adventure and I can't wait til our next one on 17 March where we will venture to St George's Island to pay tribute to Christopher.
Back.
